Information Regarding the ADSL Modem LTC Provides and How to Determine if You Have an Ethernet Port or Network Card in Your Computer

The ADSL Modem will allow one computer to connect to the Internet. If you wish to connect more than one computer to the Internet, you will need to buy a router.

The ADSL Modem connects to an Ethernet port on your computer. Your computer must have an Ethernet port to connect to the modem. Most computers now come with a network card already built into the motherboard.

To Determine if Your Computer has a Network Card (XP Users):
Click Start, then Control Panel.
Switch to Classic View.
Open the System icon.
Click the Hardware tab.
Click the Device Manager button.
Look through the list for "Network Adapters".
(Expand this by clicking the + sign to the left.)
There will be something listed here such as: Ethernet, fast Ethernet, or pci Ethernet.

If there is a question on whether you have an Ethernet card, please contact our Internet Department.

NOTE: Any PC purchased with Windows Vista will have a Network Card so there is no need to verify. However, if you do not have an open Ethernet port on your computer, you will need to install a network card in your computer.
