Logan Telephone Cooperative has awarded educational scholarships to three local students who plan to further their education after high school. Congratulations to Jerrah Jones, Jesse Pawley, and Sarah Beth Moore for being chosen as the recipients of this year’s Logan Telephone Cooperative Educational Scholarships. Their academic excellence and motivation to succeed stood out to the scholarship committee as excellent qualities, making them very deserving of this distinguished honor. The Cooperative is proud to sponsor the youth of our community who set excellent examples of hard work, dedication, and charisma. This is the 12th year that Logan Telephone has awarded scholarships. Since 1998, LTC has awarded $33,000 to local students to help further their education. We wish all three recipients the best of luck with their college endeavors.
PSC Reminds Consumers Of
Do-Not-Call List Changes
The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) wants to remind residents that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has assumed responsibility for maintaining the list of telephone customers who do not want to receive calls from telemarketers. Under a bill passed by the 2007 Kentucky General Assembly, names already on the Kentucky do-not-call list were transferred last year to the FTC’s national registry. With that change, Kentucky customers wishing to sign up for the do-not-call list in the future must do so by contacting the FTC either online at www.donotcall.gov or by calling the toll-free number 888-382-1222 (TTY 866-290-4236) from the number they wish to register. For more information and for answers to the rumors surrounding this subject lately, you can view the entire press release from the PSC by clicking here.
Permissive Dialing Date for 364
Area Code Delayed Again
On May 31, 2007 the Kentucky Public Service Commission ordered a split of the existing 270 area code. This was required because our area is running out of phone numbers. The good news is that all Logan Telephone customers will be able to keep their 270 area code numbers. Areas west of us like Henderson, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Murray and Paducah will be changing their area code to 364. A period of permissive dialing, where customers in those areas can be reached by either area code, will now begin on January 1, 2012. Mandatory dialing for the new area code will be determined at a later time.
